CHAPTER 6

Frank hurled himself to the door and dragged a heavy wooden chair under the door knob. A sharp snarl erupted on the other side and a furry thump made the heavy oak door shudder on its hinges. Joe shot up in bed with his eyes wide in fear. He scrambled to his brothers side and helped Frank drag their wardrobe to brace the door. They made sure the window was locked and pushed the chest in front of it just in case.

"I’m so afraid that I feel sick!" whispered Joe as he slid down the wall to sit beside Frank. "Why didn’t Morgan let us know about this wolf?"

"I’m calling the police!" said Frank as he reached for his cell phone with a trembling hand. He pressed a few buttons then sighed heavily. "There's no signal!"

"What are we going to do now?" Joe whispered as the wolf continued to throw itself bodily against their door. "How did the thing get inside?"

"We need a weapon or something if we’re unable to call for help. Quick, help me search around." Said Frank as he hurriedly started looking for anything that could be used as a weapon against that beast.

Joe went across the room to the walk in closet and switched on the light to start looking. As he stepped inside a sudden draft slammed the door hard behind him and plunged him in total darkness.

Joe screamed and spun around to pound on the door. But the door wasn't there anymore! Joe stood staring into the face of a woman in ancient clothes.

She didn't speak but beckoned to him to follow her down a long passage way. Joe stumbled after her with his heart beating like a drum. She looked like the same woman he’d seen hanging from the doorway of the store room. She had to be a ghost.

Joe shivered, but kept following her as she seemed to drift down the dark hallway. The woman stopped before a small entrance that looked slightly familiar to Joe.

It was a door that only stood four feet high and had an ornate silver door knob. Joe bent down for a closer look and suddenly felt a sharp shove from something behind him.

The little door swung open as he tumbled inside. Joe scrambled to his feet and looked around. The room he was in was large and empty but for one large chair at the far end. A young man with black hair sat staring at him with a haunted look in his eyes.

"Morgan, what are you doing here?" said Joe in shock at seeing his friend.
