THE CHAPTERS
Joe ignored his brother and reached a hand out to the raging creature. "We are not friends with Morgan of Great House!" said Joe in a strong voice.
A scream chilled the air around Joe and the creature. The wolf stopped its savage act and sat down like a bored dog. He turned his great head to look behind him at a woman in ancient clothes who stood smiling at Joe.
Slowly she started to vanish into thin air. Joe heard a distant rumble that seemed to come from beneath his feet. He turned to see Frank by his side and then felt the soft muzzle of the great dog lift his hand on its head. "We must go with him, Frank"
Joe felt a strong sense of peace swelling inside his heart as he kept his hand on the wolf’s head as it lead them out of the Great House and into the open land surrounding the estate. Suddenly the wolf bolted ahead of them and disappeared deep into the darkness of the woods surrounding them. The Hardy brothers stood alone in the clearing as a great rumbling grew to a faint moan beneath their feet. They turned to look back at the house to find only turf covered ruins that looked like they’d been there for centuries.
"Well that's it then, I guess!" mused Frank in complete confusion as he stared in wonder at his younger brother. "I think that you’ve got a lot to tell me, don’t you?" he draped his arm across Joe's shoulders and turned him towards the path that lead to the village and hopefully a bed and breakfast.
Joe stared dreamily ahead and smiled.
