Vanessa Bender: Vanessa moved to Bayport from Manhattan, some time after Iola Morton’s death. She and her widowed mother, Andrea, a talented graphic artist who creates a popular cartoon show, Rex Rover, live on a farm outside of Bayport, where Andrea does her work in a barn converted to a studio. Vanessa is tall [nearly as tall as Joe] and slender, with gray-blue eyes and long, ash-blonde hair. She is cool-headed and possessed of a dry wit. She is an accomplished horsewoman, is skillful with a bow and arrows, and can do nearly impossible things with computers – which comes in handy when Frank and Joe need some assistance!
