Every single day Every word you say Every game you play Every night you stay I’ll be watching you
Vanessa and Callie had spent the day shopping for new swimsuits. Chet and Biff were planning a bonfire at the beach and they wanted to look their best for Frank and Joe. They had missed lunch and were stopping at the Pizzeria for something to eat. Tony was having a rare day off but had dropped by to check on things. He was sitting alone when Vanessa and Callie walked in. “Hi Vanessa, Callie – come over and join me!”Dropping into her seat Vanessa let out a tired sigh. “Am I bushed – my feet are killing me!” “I told you not to wear those sandals,” Callie chuckled. “Yeah, yeah – but they look so cute with this outfit! Don’t you think so, Tony?” “Hey, just ‘cause I’m Italian doesn’t mean I know diddle about fashion!” Callie and Vanessa burst out laughing, Tony joining in. A waiter came up to take their order, giving the two girls a small bow before he left. Tony rolled his eyes as Callie and Vanessa snickered. “I hear you had a little trouble the other day,” smiled Vanessa sweetly. “Is the ‘damsel in distress’ here today?” “Yeah, Van wants to see her competition!” Callie teased her friend. Tony scrutinized Vanessa before answering. “She’s not as tall, maybe an inch or two shorter…other than that….Naah! No contest!” The waiter brought their glasses of tea, placing two straws on the table. Vanessa and Callie tore off the ends and blew the rest of the paper at Tony. “Vicious – you women are vicious when your blood sugar is low!” he laughed good-naturedly. “Hey Prito, what did you do to upset my woman?!” Joe had just walked in when he saw Callie and Vanessa blow the straw paper at his Italian friend. He bent down to greet Vanessa with a kiss. “Is Frank with you?” asked Callie hopefully. “Yeah – Phil drove up when we did and he’s talking computer geek with him now.” Joe grabbed a chair from another table and sat next to Vanessa, putting his arm around her shoulders and stealing a sip of her tea before she could move the glass away. No one saw Amber arrive, the foursome were teasing and laughing with each other. Tucking her hair behind her ears, Amber quickly and quietly walked to the kitchen. She paused and peeked out from behind the double doors. Watching Joe tenderly kiss a pretty ash-blonde on the cheek…the side of her forehead. Watched as he gently ran his fingers through the pretty girl’s hair. Silently closing the door Amber went to clock in for work. Frank walked in a few seconds after Amber. He waved at Tony as he approached. Taking the empty seat across from Callie, he reached out to take her hand. The waiter came back with two empty glasses and a pitcher of tea which he left on the table. Taking Frank and Joe’s order he hurried away without the fanfare of before. Amber worked quietly; the Hardys and their friends were not sitting at her station. As she walked back and forth taking and bringing back orders, she kept a watchful eye on Vanessa. Amber observed every move that the blonde girl made. ***** A few days later Vanessa was back at the mall. She had gone back to have another look at the swimsuits. She had purchased a white one-piece but another swimsuit had caught her eye. Callie had teased her when she saw it – it was a red bikini that was a bit more revealing than Vanessa normally wore. As Vanessa walked through the mall she had a strange feeling that she was being followed. At one point she looked over her shoulder but wasn’t sure if she saw anyone suspicious. “I’ve been hanging around Joe too long,” she mumbled softly and then continued on her way. Amber peeked around the potted plant where she had taken cover. When Vanessa had turned to look, she was sure that she had been spotted. Amber saw that Vanessa had continued walking; she waited for a minute before following her. She saw the tall blonde walk into a small boutique. Amber casually strolled around the boutique but never lost sight of Vanessa. ***** Tony parked his car at the curb in front of the Hardy home. He wasn’t sure if he was doing the right thing or not but….His mind madeup, Tony got out of his car and started walking up the sidewalk when the front door opened. “Hi Tony, I thought that was your car.” Frank greeted his good friend with a smile. “Hey Frank – is Joe home?”“No, he went to the drycleaner’s to pick up some clothes for Mom. Is something wrong?” Frank had noticed the concern on Tony’s face. “Well…I’m not exactly…sure…” “Tony…spit it out – you’re making me nervous!” “It’s Amber….she’s kind of freaking me out.”
Laura hadn’t had a chance to pick up a few of Fenton’s shirts, so she asked Joe if he would mind going to the drycleaner’s and getting them. The younger Hardy didn’t mind, he was bored. Callie had come by earlier and picked up Frank. Vanessa was busy helping her mother and Biff and Chet were nowhere to be found. Joe figured Tony was busy at work and hadn’t tried to get hold of him. His errand done, Joe decided to go to the mall. He wanted to check out the latest CDs at the music store. Joe roamed through the store not finding anything he liked. He decided to head for the food court and get a snack. He stepped off the escalator and was about to head for The Taco Stand when he saw a familiar ash-blonde sitting with her back to him. Joe crept behind her and placed his hands over her eyes. “Guess who, beautiful!” Joe was about to plant a kiss when…”Oh! I’m sooo sorry!” Amber picked up her glasses and put them on, smiling at Joe. “I…I didn’t mind.” “You changed your hair – from the back I thought you were someone else. I’m really sorry,” Joe apologized. “Do you like it,” asked Amber as she ran her fingers through her hair. “Yeah…it looks good on you.” Joe shuffled his feet, looking uncomfortable standing next to Amber. “Well, Amber….” “Call me Ambrosia…my full name is Ambrosia.” “That’s a pretty name. I was going to get a taco…” “You can join me if you like!” Joe couldn’t help but notice the eager-to-please expression on Amber’s face. A part of him told him to leave but another part felt sorry for the shy girl. So he gave her a smile. “Sure, I’d like that. I’ll be right back.” As Joe walked away, he never saw the loving expression on Amber’s face.
Frank sat in the living room waiting impatiently for Joe to return home. He had tried calling his brother on his cell but as usual Joe had left his phone in his room. Checking his watch, Frank was about to get his motorbike and search for Joe when he saw the van pull into the driveway. Joe was about to insert his house key into the lock when the door suddenly flew open. He saw Frank standing in the doorway and was going to ask him if he was okay when he was suddenly pulled inside. “Hey Frank – where’s the fire?!”“I need to talk to you. Tony came by – he’s a little concerned about…that waitress you helped – Amber.” “Oh? Are those guys hassling her again?” Joe looked concerned, since Amber hadn’t mentioned it during their lunch together. “What? No…no, nothing like that. Tony seems to think that…well, that she’s obsessed with you.” Joe burst out laughing as he moved past Frank and headed for the kitchen. “Joe, I’m not kidding!” Frank, annoyed, followed his brother into the kitchen. Joe had found a pitcher of tea and was pouring a glass for himself. Noticing how agitated Frank was, he set his glass down. “Okay, I’m listening. Why does Tony think Ambrosia is obsessed with me?” “Ambrosia – I thought her name was Amber?”“It is…Amber is a shorter version of Ambrosia.” Joe took a sip of his tea. “How do…never mind….Tony said he found your old Bayport High school ID in her locker. He’s also noticed that whenever you’re there, she’s always watching you! And it seems that she’s dyed her hair…the same color as Vanessa’s!” “Yeah,” smiled Joe. “I…well, never mind. I thought she looked good. I even asked her if she considered getting contacts…you know, trade in those ‘Clark Kent’ glasses of hers!” “You saw her today?!”“Mmhm…had lunch with her too. She’s a really nice person once you get through that shy exterior of hers.” Frank stared at Joe and let out a small groan of despair. He could see that his brother felt sorry for the shy girl. Frank knew that look – Joe had gone into protective mode. There was no way he was going to convince him to be careful around Amber. “Joe – don’t you think it’s a little odd that she dyed her hair the same color as Vanessa?” “Not really –lots of girls color their hair. I mean, look at Callie! How many times has she changed her hair color?!” “Just promise me you’ll keep your guard up when you’re around her,” sighed Frank. “If it will make you feel better…I promise!” Somehow, Frank didn’t believe Joe meant it. ***** Dear Diary, My beloved is bewitched. He is under a spell and I have seen the witch who has cast it. I know what I have to do to save him. I will become her….I will transform myself and become her….Then when my love sees me he will be under my spell! Soon…soon we will be together….Forever!!
