THE CHAPTERS |
Chet couldn’t believe that he was here, and sitting next to him was Carolyn! After helping her reel in her catch and throwing the fish into the bucket, Chet baited the hook and threw the line back out. Carolyn snuggled next to him. Looking out towards Joe and Vanessa, he saw that they had given up on fishing. Joe had taken off his shirt and dived into the lake. Vanessa had worn a swimsuit underneath her clothes; when Joe went into the water she quickly removed her shirt and shorts and dove in after him. “I’m so happy being here with you, Chet,” Carolyn sighed. “So am I,” Chet replied. Setting his fishing pole aside, Chet then took Carolyn’s and placed it next to her. Held her hands; he leaned close and let out a happy sigh when he felt her lips. Vanessa splashed some water at Joe to get his attention. “Why don’t you ever kiss me like that?” she teased. Joe turned around; a smile crossed his lips. “Way to go, Chet,” he mumbled. Then he playfully splashed water at Vanessa. “What do you mean, why don’t I ever kiss you that way? I thought you said I was a great kisser!” Her eyes twinkled with mischief. “I guess I was wrong!” With a mock glare, Joe shook his fist at her before he dived toward her. Vanessa screamed with delight as she tried to swim away from Joe. Carolyn and Chet looked to see what they were doing; standing up, Chet yelled out at Joe. “Hey, you’re scaring away the fish making all that racket!” “Not me! You scared them away with that major lip-lock you were giving Carolyn!” Chet could feel himself blushing a bright red; he glanced down at Carolyn. Her cheeks seemed a little pink in color, and then she glanced up at him and smiled. “He’s just jealous, he knows a great kisser when he sees one!” ****** Frank was beginning to think that he should have gone fishing with the others. It was almost eleven o’clock by the time Callie was ready to leave on their walk. Then it took him five minutes to convince Callie to change her footwear. She was wearing low-heel sandals, but Frank knew that they weren’t appropriate for a long walk. With Callie now wearing the moccasins that Carolyn had loaned her, they started on their romantic walk. Holding Callie’s hand, Frank could smell the sweet flowery perfume that she always wore. “Callie, I’m not sure you should have worn your perfume.” “I thought you liked it! I mean, you did give it to me for my birthday.” “I know and I do, but…it’s not something you should wear out in the woods!” But Callie just rolled her eyes in exasperation and continued walking. A few minutes later, Callie swiped away a gnat that was bothering her. She soon noticed that there were quite a lot of gnats flying around. Frank was heading towards the lake; he could hear laughter and knew they were getting near their destination. Callie suddenly let out a shriek. “What’s wrong?!” “Bees! There are two bees buzzing around me!” “I think those are honeybees, Callie, they won’t hurt you. Just don’t swipe at them.” Callie wasn’t listening; she was trying to keep the bees away from her. She began to walk faster and faster; soon she was almost running with Frank trying to catch her. They finally came up on the lake; Chet turned around in surprise when Callie came crashing out. “Hi Callie, are you okay?” “No! I’m being chased by Killer Bees!” “Hi Chet,” Frank said as he tried to calm Callie down. “Callie I think you scared the bees away. So intent on making sure that the bees were gone, Callie didn’t notice the fishing pole lying on the ground. She stepped on the fishing pole, causing it to roll, which made her lose her balance. Frank, seeing what was about to happen leaped over to catch her before she fell into the water. Unfortunately, Frank overstepped; his momentum caused him to push Callie forward and they both fell into the water. ******* Mary took out her keys to Hummer; she peeked inside Andrea’s tent to see if she was there. “I’m going to drive into town and get some hot dogs at the General Store. Since the kids got to roast marshmallows I thought they would like to roast some hot dogs too.” “Oh, that sounds like a great idea, Mary!” “I won’t be gone long.” It took Mary ten minutes to get to the small town of Montvale; she parked the Hummer in front of the store. Walking towards the back of the store, she saw the nondescript man standing in the corner. She knew that man, would recognize him anywhere. Her eyes glowing with anger, she walked up to him. “What do you want, Arthur?”
