Meanwhile, Maddie had made her way out to greet the occupants of the jeep. When she brushed Colt Tanner’s cheek with a brief, but noticeable kiss, Fenton and Frank Hardy exchanged a knowing smile while Tanner blushed.

"I’m glad you made it safely," Maddie greeted the Hardys, and then glanced to where Carl and Joe were standing. "Joe’s been practicing his sign-language. He’s really quite good at it now."

"He’d better be," said Colt, pulling off his straw cowboy hat, "His life depends on it."

(1) This story takes place about a month and a half after "Quality Time". Some of the original characters are introduced in "QT". To better understand, "Colorado Conspiracy", you may want to read "QT" first.
