Buck had returned with the boy flung over his shoulder like a rag doll. He ordered Rita into the bedroom to the right of the kitchen.

"Go to bed!" Buck ordered, taking the boy into the opposite bedroom.

"Rita!" Joe screamed, "Help me!"

A few minutes later, Rita had her hands over her ears to help drown out the pain-filled screaming coming from the other bedroom.

"Stop it Buck! Stop it," she quietly pleaded. She had never seen Buck so angry. She heard Buck tell the boy that he was going to teach him a lesson he’d never forget. She had slipped from her bedroom to peek into the room where Buck had taken the boy. The boy was tied face down on the bed and Buck had his belt ready to hit the boy’s bare back. She went back to her room and listened to Joe’s screams, not knowing what else to do.

Buck entered the room half an hour later. Rita felt sick as she looked at the blood-soaked belt in Buck’s hand.

"I’m going to deliver the next message," Buck growled, "If he gets away again, I’ll kill you both!" Buck left and Rita cried herself to sleep.

Early the next morning, Frank dressed quickly so he could get over to Mike’s house before he left for work. As he exited his room, Billy met him in the hall.

"I’m going over to talk to the neighbor," Frank told Billy, "he saw the delivery of Joe’s t-shirt."

"I’ll come with you," offered Billy and they headed down the stairs and out the front door. Frank started down the driveway and stopped dead in his tracks. In front of their house sat a red pick-up truck.

"Where did that truck come from?" Frank asked himself out loud.

"That old thing?" Billy answered, assuming Frank was speaking to him, "It’s was my Daddy’s truck, but I drove it to Bayport."

Frank looked at Billy with wide eyes. Could he be involved in Joe’s abduction? If so, why?

"Someone in a red pick-up put my brother’s bloody t-shirt in our mailbox yesterday morning," Frank stated, carefully watching Billy’s face.

"Frankie, you can’t think I...I’d do ..." Billy’s face paled as his words trailed off, "I’d never do anything to hurt Joey. I love you guys like brothers! You gotta know that!"

"I didn’t say you did," Frank said evenly, his voice void of emotion, "but it’s quite a coincidence that a red pick-up made that delivery and you happen to drive one."

"You know, Frank," Billy began defensively, "I’m here to help you find your brother and suddenly you’re treating me like a criminal!"

"If the shoe fits." Frank said coldly, fighting his emotions. He was torn between wanting this to be the right truck and hoping it was the wrong truck.

Billy sighed. He could see Frank struggling with his emotions.

"Maybe we should see if your neighbor recognizes my truck before you jump to any conclusions you may regret," suggested Billy. Billy Hardy knew only one other person who had a key to his truck and he didn’t want to think about the person who maybe followed him to Bayport.

"If Mike I.D.’s the truck, you’ll have a lot of explaining to do," Frank said, his voice tight with emotion, "I’ll call the police right away. It could be a major key in finding Joe." 18-year-old Frank and 28-year-old Billy headed next door to Mike Anderson’s house.

As they approached the house, Mike came out to meet them. He reached out to shake Frank’s hand.

"Sorry to hear about Joe. " Mike began before Frank could say a word, "But I guess finding that old, red pick-up will be a great help in finding him."
