Epilogue

A Day Later

"Hey, Frank, have you seen Jason?" Joe asked his brother, walking into the living room and flopping down next to Frank.

"Nope," Frank replied, looking over at Joe from the made-for-TV movie he was watching. "Why?"

"No reason," Joe replied, "I was just wondering where he went." Just then, a something streaked into the room and jumped on the couch. With a start, Joe realized it was a someone, not a something.

"Jason Hardy!" Frank said with a smile, thinking about how great it was to be able to say that.

"What?" Jason asked innocently.

"What’re you doing?"

"Frank, Joe, you have to see this! Aunt Gertrude was kissing Uncle Matt!" Jason said, giggling. Frank and Joe looked at each other, raising their eyebrows.

"What?" They asked in unison.

"Come on, I’ll show you!" Jason tugged on Joe’s hand, indicating for him to get up. Shrugging his shoulders, Joe got up, followed by Frank. Very quietly, Jason led them into the hall and up the stairs. There, in a corner near the stairs, they found Gertrude and Matt kissing passionately! Frank and Joe’s eyes bugged out and they stared at the sight in front of them, before staring at each other. Finally, Joe started snickering, and motioned at Frank to follow his lead. Very casually, he sauntered up the last few stairs, and when he finally got to the top, started whistling as he walked past the pair into his room. He stopped in front of Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Matt, acting startled.

"Oh, Auntie, Uncle Matt! Hi! What’re you two up to?" he asked. Matt and Gertrude, who had pulled away from each other as soon as they heard Joe whistling, blushed beet red, and tried to stammer a reply. Frank who was tugging on Jason’s hand and snickering just looked at Matt and Gertrude, trying not to start laughing in their faces. Joe continued grinning at them for a minute, before turning and walking into his room, whistling again. Frank followed him, running the last few steps into Joe’s room, nearly pulling Jason. He slammed the door shut, and all three of them burst into laughter. After five minutes, they finally managed to calm down enough for to say,

"Well, they sure know how to bring it on!" causing Joe and him to burst out laughing again. Jason, confused as to what was going on, stood there looking at his older brothers.

Meanwhile, Matt and Gertrude looked at each other still blushing. Finally, Matt started laughing too, followed more slowly by Gertrude. As they calmed down, Matt took Gertrude into his arms again.

"I’m so very lucky to have found you," he whispered tenderly. Gertrude smiled at him, but then her smile dropped.

"Matt, I just…I just wish we could have the twins with us," she whispered. Matt stopped smiling too as he looked at her.

"Well, we now know who’s contesting the adoption," he said, thinking back to their court trip the day before. "Now all we have to do is figure out why they are!" he said, sounding a bit more frustrated.

"Oh, don’t worry!" Gertrude vowed. "I will find that out!" Just then Joe’s door opened, and Frank trooped out, followed by Joe and Jason. Stopping in front of his aunt and uncle, Frank feigned surprise and asked very innocently,

"Oh, no more lip lock?" Gertrude immediately leapt to get him as Frank ran down the stairs laughing, followed by Joe, followed by Gertrude, still threatening to get them. Matt stood at the top of the stairs laughing. Swinging Jason into his arms, he thought to himself,

"Very soon, life will be even more complete…"
