A few days had past, Joe had come home from
the hospital, with orders from Dr. Dawson to rest for a couple more days,
Frank had gone back to school and was helping Joe catch up, while he was
catching up himself. Everyone at school were asking how Joe was feeling,
and Frank told him, he was doing fine, and would be back next week.
"Frank, it’s good to see you," Alexis told him. "How’s Joe doing?" "He’s doing okay, he’ll be back next week, the doctor wanted to make sure he was feeling better, so he ordered him to stay at home until he got his energy back, he’s been mostly sleeping since he came home, but he didn’t sleep well last night," Frank explained. "I understand," Alexis replied. "A friend of mine in college was beaten up by this gang, and it took him awhile to recover, but I’m sure Joe would be fine in no time. Mr. Allenby told me to give you his assignments, are you making sure he keeps up?" Alexis asked. "Yes, he’s keeping up," Frank replied. "His teachers have been a great help, it’s a good thing they understand about our detective work." "Mr. Allenby, told me that he was impressed with yours and Joe’s abilities, he’s the reason I hired your Dad to find my Dad," Alexis told Frank. "I just wish he could have found him another way." "I know what you mean, but I’m sure you enjoy being an Aunt," Frank replied, he understood she was referring to his father meeting up with her brother, when he was looking for clues to the whereabouts of his brother. "I’m having a ball," Alexis agreed. "Sarah is a wonderful Mom to those boys." "What are their names?" Frank asked. "James and Andrew," Alexis told him. "They are named after both of our grandfathers." "So are Joe and I," Frank replied. "Who’s named after the paternal grandfather?" Alexis asked, thinking it must be Frank because he’s the oldest. "Joe is, Elizabeth is actually Sarah Elizabeth, but she prefers Elizabeth," Frank explained. "I thought you would have been named after him?" Alexis stated. "He would have, but it was my grandpa Frank that was responsible for my parent’s getting together, and Grandpa Joe understood, he was happy that they had another boy though," Frank explained. "Tell your Dad thanks, and tell Joe I hope he gets better soon," Alexis said, as Elizabeth approached and both she and Frank headed home. * * * * * Frank drove the van home, "Anyone home?" he asked as he walked into the living room. He had dropped Elizabeth off at Jonathan’s house so that they could complete a project together. "Shh," Fenton said, from the open door of his office. "Joe’s asleep." "Where?" Frank asked, as he came into his father’s office, and spotted Joe asleep in the recliner in his father’s study, with the family cat, Mystery on his lap. "Oh, how long has he been asleep?" "For about six hours, apparently he didn’t sleep well last night," Fenton answered. "He told me this morning, he said his ribs were bothering him," Frank said. Just then, they both heard a soft moan, "Hi, Frank, how was school?" Joe asked sleepily. "Fine, get a good rest?" Frank asked. "Yeah," Joe replied, stretching, which caused Mystery to start purring, which even Frank heard even from where he was standing. "Dad, has Mysty been sleeping here the whole time?" "Just about," Fenton replied, smiling, although Mystery was given to the family from a grateful client when Frank was 13 and Joe was 12, she seemed to prefer Joe’s company, although she split between sleeping with Frank and Joe. "Get a good rest?" Frank asked. "Yeah," Joe replied. "What’s for dinner?" Joe asked. "Your Mom is going to bring some take-out from Pedro’s after she gets off at the center," Fenton told his sons. "She has been busy with inventory, and she should be done about 5:30." "That sounds good, we haven’t had take-out from Pedro’s in awhile," Frank replied. "Where’s Elizabeth?" Fenton asked. "She went to Jonathan’s’, they have a project from their chemistry class to work on, so they got started on it," Frank replied. "I dropped her off at Jonathan’s house on the way home, she said she’ll be home in time for dinner." "How is Ms. Davenport," Fenton asked. "She’s doing great, her brother even introduced her to one of the officer at his precinct," Frank replied. "Sounds like she’s very happy, being a sister and an aunt," Joe commented. "She enjoys it very much, she even spending time with her sister-in-law," Frank replied. Just then the phone rang, Fenton picked it up, "Hello?...Oh hi honey,...Yeah, Joe’s here...Yeah, he got some sleep...That’s fine, he can come over anytime...Okay, see you later...Bye...Love you too," Fenton hung up the phone, "Well, Jonathan’s coming over for dinner when he drops Elizabeth off." "That would be great," Frank replied. "Jonathan has been busy with school and work, that we haven’t had time to spend time with him." "Yeah," Joe agreed. "His Dad keep’s him working at his company." "I guess he wants the experience," Fenton put in. "Just like you two get when you work on a case." "Yeah," Frank agreed. "But today is the first day off he’s had in awhile." "That’s right," Joe said. "His company’s is short-handed at the moment, that’s why Phil put in for an application with them, yesterday, his skills will come in handy." Frank and Joe knew that Phil would be helpful, as Jonathan’s father was the owner of Webstertech, a web designing company in the area, both Frank and Joe knew, Phil’s skill with computers would greatly help the company out, as Phil had helped them on numerous cases. Just then, the telephone rang, Fenton picked up. "Hello? Okay, Frank it’s for you, it’s Phil," he said, handing Frank the phone. "Phil?" Frank said into the phone. "You got the job?...That’s great...Yeah, Jonathan is coming over tonight...Yeah, I’ll tell him for you...That’s great....See you tomorrow...Okay...Bye...," he said, hanging up the phone. "He got the job?" Joe inquired. "Yeah, he start’s tomorrow, they’re even working around him going to college next year," Frank said. Joe nodded, he knew Phil had already been accepted to MIT, "How are they going to do that? Have him help from his dorm room?" Joe guessed. "Yeah," Frank replied. "They’re going to give him one of their computers to do stuff for business, he has already decided to live off-campus, since there is limited space available in the dorm rooms." "Well, I bet his parents are proud of him," Fenton said. "Yeah, they are," Frank put in. "They’re going to take him to New York City to celebrate." "Who’s going to celebrate in New York City?" Elizabeth asked, as she walked into her father’s office. "Phil and his parents," Frank replied. "Didn’t Jonathan tell you? He got the job." "Yeah, but I guess I only heard part of the conversation. Right Jonathan?" Elizabeth looked up at her six-foot-two inch boyfriend. "Yes, I did," replied Jonathan, who came to stand behind Elizabeth and looked through blue eyes, at the Hardy’s, he had the same brown hair as Frank, and they had known each other since their 6th grade when he came home with Joe and Jonathan’s brother, Judd shared classes with Frank. Frank winced at the memory of Judd, he knew they would have been good friends if he hadn’t been killed so young.
Twenty minutes later, Laura came home with dinner for everyone and they enjoyed the evening together, and played a couple of games of trivial pursuit, and enjoying the time they had each other made them all thankful that this family wasn’t like the Draven’s and they were especially happy when they could reunite a family like the Davenport’s after so many years apart. * * * * * Well, what do you think? I want to extend a big thanks to Moonstar for her assistance with the story, although the story evolved beyond further than I intended, not through any of Moonstar’s doing, I got her assistance after I thought of the revenge angle. I’m sorry I didn’t involve the girls as much, but my third story they are going to provide invaluable assistance to their boyfriends and brother. |
