Author's Name: Ocean
Title of Story: Homecoming Type of Story: Alternate Universe Rating of Story: PG-15 Characters in Story: The usual suspects. Warnings: Probably sensitive issue of teenage pregnancy and abortion but that’s all and all written according to my beliefs. And angst but not too much because I’m actually in a happy mood for a long time. Plot Blurb: Homecoming. Guess who’s coming home? Splash Page: When I actually find something masterful to put here. Which is never. Special Notes: This story doesn’t follow the Seekers timeline which I’m about to kill because the themes are already done by other authors and frankly, I don’t know how to continue that story which I think I have done to death already (sniggers at herself). The history for this story goes way back to about five years ago. It is totally inspired by the song, Brick, by Ben Folds Five. It’s almost an anthem at that time with my friends (about a month). We were seventeen when the song smoldered its way up the top ten hits in my country. With its poignant narration and imperfectly perfect vocals of the lead singer, it evokes intense and heart-wrenching emotions in me though I’m repulsed by the seemingly selfishness of the male protagonist in the song but I guess when these things happen, we tend to think of those involved as dragging us down when we too are dragging them down. It was very apt too because at that time, we were all hearing stories about friends of friends leaving school to have babies or going through abortion. I’ll always remember that one girl whom I knew by association. She went for abortion and there were complications. I do not advocate contraceptives and am dead against abortion for beliefs out of my own convictions and my faith as a Catholic, though a sinful Catholic I am. I advise instead abstinence from sex until married and to only do it with your spouse. Many stories paint a beautiful picture of teenage couples overcoming all odds in this situation but reality seldom turns out the way stories do. But I believe that one should always face up to mistakes and not run away. The best life we’ll ever have, in my opinion, is one where we, despite our failings, learn to be brave, face up to our mistakes and walk on to edify the lives of those around us. This story is not to condemn anyone. Forgive me if I unwittingly attempted character assassination (used metaphorically, not literally.) I know few actually do like my style; some are eventually repulsed by the darkness of my writings. But for those who are reading my stories for the first time, give me a chance to grow on you. J Heh heh. A writer loves her fans. I’m not that depressing really and not that immoral. Have fun and take care. Byebye!
