Fenton Hardy strode out of the hotel room with Laura right behind him. He veered for the nearest elevator and punched the button to call one. He gave his wife's hand a squeeze. "I'm sure everything's all right." "Stop!" Fenton turned to see Sheridan hurrying up to him. "I don't know where you two are going, but your sons have ducked out on us. We need to find them." Fenton Hardy swiped a hand through his dark hair with his free hand and heaved a sigh. "We know. We're going to look for them." "Not without me. Just because he targeted your sons, doesn't mean he won't pick another target." Sheridan pulled on the jacket he'd been carrying. "You didn't hear anything?" "No," snapped Fenton. Although this man was apparently trying to help, he was getting on Fenton's last nerve. Sheridan gave him a look, then shrugged. "Where do you think your sons went?" Fenton sighed. "The van is at the house. We'll go there first." "Think it will be that easy?" Sheridan asked, the smirk back on his face. Fenton shook his head. "It never is." *** "This is absolutely nuts. The nuttiest idea you've ever had. I can't believe this." The room itself wasn't too bad, a little dusty, a tad creepy, but not bad. Frank paced from the bed to the wall and back again. "This is the most idiotic thing you've done in awhile – at least." Joe was stretched out on the bed, hands laced behind his head. "You think it was some animatronic thing? The fairy." Frank stopped in mid-pace to stare at his brother. "Did you hear what I said?" "You were saying – what?" Frank groaned. "I said this has to be your craziest idea yet. Bunking here? I feel like I'm visiting the Bates Motel, or something." "Well, then don't take a shower any time soon." Frank shook his head. "I don't know why I put up with you." He yawned and sat down on the bed. "Man, it's dusty in here." Joe sat up and looked over at his brother. "Frank, if someone knows us pretty well, where would they think we'd go?" "Home, get the van, probably." Frank looked over at Joe, a chill racing down his spine. "Wait a minute, you did this on purpose?" "Not...exactly. But anyone who knows us would figure that, right? Our friends....Dad." Joe laid back down, his expression pensive. "Dad is going to be furious when he finds us missing but we need freedom to find Morales." Frank lay down on his side of the bed. "The least they could have done was give us separate guest rooms." He slid a glance at Joe. "I haven't had to share a bed with you for at least ten years." "Fifteen." "Ten." Joe rolled over on his side. "Frank, remember that movie that I thought was funny and you thought was stupid?" "Considering that it would be a list a mile long, which one?" "Ha, ha. Planes, Trains and Automobiles." "What about it?" "Just giving you food for thought." Joe lay back down and stared up at the ceiling. Frank thought a moment, and jumped out of bed. "You'd better not." "Not what?" Joe asked innocently. Frank gave his brother a hard look. "Just consider it fair warning. You do, and I'll kick you out of bed so fast, you won't know what hit you." Joe just grinned and closed his eyes.
