Pen Name: hbwgonnabe
Board Name: hbwgonnabe Name: Joyce Age(range): 35-40 Location: North Carolina Time Zone: Eastern What's your Occupation? sales associate Brief bio: I'm pretty dull. I speak what I think without thinking how it might sound..kind of like Joe in that way. And I end up hurting people's feelings that I don't mean to because I really like them. That's one of the reasons I don't post a lot. I don't mean anything by what I say; it just tends to come out wrong. When did you start reading the Hardy Boys? In the sixth grade Who started you reading the Hardy Boys? The vice principal of my elementary school. I was one of four kids in my class who got dropped off at school over an hour early. It was the last month of school and we were making too much noise so the VP came to our room and told us to sit and read our library books. It was library day and we already had so he ordered us to trade with the person next to us. It turned out to be The Yellow Feather Mystery. By that summer's end I had read all that had been written of the series. When did you start writing Fan fiction? HB fanfic I started in the eight grade. I spent over five years on my first story: A Charade in Barcelona. It was a Joe story complete with a hang gliding competition, a love triangle, smugglers, and a haunted castle. I did scads of research and editing. I had one hard copy and the rest on disk for my Brother word processor. Then the processor broke. The new one would not accept the old disks (which I still have although the last chapter is still written in a notebook I have). So, I went to search for the printed copy I had. I was going to retype it (a chore because I hate typing). Problem: I had gone to college in the meantime and most of my stuff was at home. The papers and smaller stuff were stored in a building with some other stuff that belonged to the rest of the family. A rat got in the building and made a nest in some things. Mom threw everything away including my story. I spent all that time on my story and had nothing to show for it. That's why I now write, edit as I type, and then edit for grammar with the spell check and send it in to post and forget it. I no longer try to write to please other people. I just write what I would like to read. Who is your favorite character? Joe but believe it or not it was Frank to begin with. What attracts you to the Hardy Boys? The cliffhangers mostly. They make me want to keep reading...but lately, the series hasn't been that good and I find that the fanfic written by the authors at the HDA is more exciting and believable than any of the books ever where. What is your favorite Hardy Boys Series? The Casefiles. What is your favorite Hardy Boys Book? Debatable. I will read and reread and reread and as time goes by I find my faves change. But I guess I can go with my old standby and say What Happened at Midnight. I loved it where Joe got kidnapped and Aunt Gertrude was dissing teen boys until she heard what happened to Joe. Yep...I'm talking the tweed version. What is your favorite Hardy Boys moment? Too many. I find at least one in every book and in some there are loads! But they ALWAYS revolve around Joe. What is your favorite Hardy Boys moment in your own stories? Haven't read them enough to remember the parts. (I have a lousy memory! I have to review previous chapters while I write just to remember the bad guys names!) Who is your favorite original character in your own stories? Definitely Angelic Deveraux. We haven't seen the last of her. How would you describe your fan fic? Hopefully, good. Which of the Hardy Boys books do you own? All of them. Anything else you would like to add? Nope, can't think of anything. Are your stories open for critiquing? Nope, I'm too big of a chicken! I know they need lots of work but I just write for fun now.
