THE HAYNES SISTERS

Pen Name: I’m one half of The Haynes Sisters

Board Name: Purple

Name: Rachel

Age: 21

Location: Louisiana!!

Time Zone: Central

What's your Occupation?: I am currently a tour guide at Kent Plantation House. In the past I worked for my dad, who is a doctor. I’ve had my fill of the medical world!

Brief bio: I am the oldest of four, and in addition to loving the Hardys, I’m a Nancy Drew collector. I have to admit, Nancy is my first love when it comes to books. I actually read her after I read all of the Hardys that the library had, instead of the other way around like everyone else. I am also a horse person, and a fan of The Little Mermaid. (both versions) I love to write, and I write so much more than just fan fiction.

When did you start reading the Hardy Boys? I think I was about 8 or 9. I was so young that I don’t really remember the specifics. I do remember that the first one I read was The Secret of the Old Mill.

Who started you reading the Hardy Boys? Nobody that I remember. They were just on the shelf and looked like they would be good.

When did you start writing Fan fiction? I actually wrote about 4 paragraphs of a story when I was about 10, but never finished it and then lost it when we moved. I had also started a TLM one that year, but lost it too.

Who is your favorite character? After Frank, I’d have to say Tony. Especially in Dead on Target!

What attracts you to the Hardy Boys? Their relationship mainly. My sister and I are a lot like that sometimes, although we fight a lot more than the boys do, lol.

What is your favorite Hardy Boys Series? Casefiles!!! Haven’t read many of the others in forever.

What is your favorite Hardy Boys Book? Campaign of Crime for the Casefiles, and Secret of the Old Mill and What Happened at Midnight for blue spines. And does House on The Point count?

What is your favorite Hardy Boys moment? I’d have to say the fight between the brothers in Campaign of Crime. It’s about the only time where they’re both rational, and disagree so strongly on something that they go in opposite directions on the investigation. It’s very real.

What is your favorite Hardy Boys moment in your own stories? I think I’d have to say the moment in Unbreakable when Laura and Ned have a little talk about Nancy and Frank. It let me tell everyone just what it is that I find so wonderful about Ned.

Who is your favorite original character in your own stories? Believe it or not, the deceased Clancy Barret! And the client, Katrina, in our upcoming story.

How would you describe your fan fic? Alternate universe Casefile with real life greatly intruding.

Which of the Hardy Boys books do you own: We have about 2/3’s of the Casefiles, and an assorted number of digests, OT’s and blue spines. And I will admit that I still haven’t read all of them!

Anything else you would like to add? It’s perfectly OK to still be in love with the boys. There’s nothing wrong with re-living your childhood through well-loved books.

Are your stories open for critiquing? Yes
