The early morning sun was bright, and showed promise of a fierce heat later in the day, as 26 year old Frank Hardy and his younger brother Joe made their way along an old dirt track in their Explorer Jeep. Callie and Vanessa were in the back and all four were talking and laughing excitedly. Vanessa and Joe were busy planning their wedding and had thought a little sightseeing might relieve some of their tension.

The four had decided to spend the day together exploring a cave that they had heard about from a friend of Callie' s. They were very excited because they had heard that outlaws of the Old West once used the caves.

An hour's drive saw the four of them at the end of the road leading to the caves.

"Sarah told me that the road is too narrow from here, we need to go on foot" Callie said. Taking food, water and a couple of flashlights the group began the trek up the narrow lane until they reached the mouth of the caves.

As they made their way into the dark and gloomy entrance of the caves, Joe stopped.

"This is just great," said Joe.

By the tone of Joe' s voice, Frank knew he was frustrated about something. He decided he better find out.

"What' s wrong, Joe?" said Frank as he turned and looked into his brother's blue eyes. They were only one year apart, but in appearance they looked totally different. Frank had wavy brown hair and brown eyes. His brother, Joe, had blonde hair and blue eyes.

"My flashlight is dead. I' m going to have to go back to my car for some more batteries. I really don' t want to miss anything."

Vanessa Bender looked at her boyfriend in amusement

"Poor baby. We promise to wait for you," She smiled at Joe, with her dazzlingly beautiful grey eyes.

"Yes", added Callie, Joe' s blond haired, brown eyed sister-in-law. "We won' t go without you. Hurry and get the batteries"

The three of them sat down on some rocks just inside the cave.

Joe rolled his eyes at both of them, and took off running back out of the cave to his car. He was just glad they had not gone very far inside the cave.

Joe quickly replaced the batteries in the flashlight, for once grateful that Frank made him carry spare batteries with him at all times.

He was coming back when he heard screams and a loud boom. Then he saw dust pouring out of the front of the cave. Oh, no, it couldn't be, he thought. It just couldn't.

He ran into the mouth of the cave screaming for Frank, Callie and Vanessa.

Something had caused part of the cave to collapse in on itself, there were rocks and dust everywhere!

Joe yelled Franks name again, then Vanessa and Callie' s. When he didn't hear any reply, the fear gripped his heart.

He jumped forward and started trying to move the rocks, but the more he moved, the more rocks tumbled down on him. He realized it was futile. He needed real help.

For all Joe knew, Frank, Callie and Vanessa were badly injured, or even worse, Dead!
