Joe and Fenton met Laura at the hospital. The guys arrived at the hospital a little later and told Joe that his car was in the parking lot. The doctor came out and asked who was waiting for Vanessa, Callie and Frank. "We are," said Laura, who had the same blue eyes and blonde hair as her son, Joe. "They are all doing fine. They need rest and some nourishment," said the doctor. "Can they go home?" asked Joe. "I don't see why not. Just make them rest for the next few weeks. Make sure Frank stays off his feet, since he sprained both his ankles. The left one is more severe than the right. Callie should not be trying to lift anything for a few days. Vanessa should watch her sprain wrist for a few days and try not to use it, too much.@ "Alright," said Joe. "Let's get them home." "You are all coming home with us," said Laura and Fenton agreed with her. He needed to know that everyone was happy and safe. After they got home to Fenton and Laura's residence and ate, everyone said their goodnights and went to bed. Everyone had had a very stressfully day and was extremely exhausted. Joe was suddenly awakened. He could not figure out why and he had trouble going back to sleep. He got up quietly, so he would not disturb Vanessa and went down stairs. He went into the kitchen and fixed a snack. He was in deep thought, when finally he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up to see his brother's worried eyes looking at him. "Joe, what is wrong?" said Frank. "What do you mean? Nothing is wrong," said Joe looking away from Frank. "Joe, I have been trying to get your attention for five minutes. Where were you?@ "I don't know. I mean... I was here.@ "Okay, little brother," said Frank as he sat down beside his brother. "Tell me what is bothering you." "I'm not really sure. I feel that something is wrong. I don't know how else to explain it.@ "Just tell me what you're feeling. Start there." "It started right before Dad and I left to go to the hospital. Something Y no, someone is in trouble. Actually, she is in trouble.@ "Why do you think she is in trouble?" Joe was silent. He was focusing his mind on something. Frank knew how his brother instincts could take over and lead him. He just wanted to make sure it didn't lead him into trouble. He could see his brother starting to tremble. Frank reached out and put his hand on Joe's hand. "Joe..." "Jay. The she is Jay. I forgot in all the excitement when I found you.@ "Forgot what?@ "I forgot about the scars. Frank, you should have seen them. She had all these horrible scars on her back. Some of them where made not too long ago. She kept holding back. She hardly talked to me. And she jumped out of her skin when I touched her. She is in deep trouble.@ "Who is in deep trouble?" asked Fenton as he walked into the kitchen. "Sorry, Dad," said Frank. "We didn't mean to wake you." "I guess you couldn't sleep," said Fenton. "So tell me what is bothering you two and who is in "deep" trouble?@ "Dad, I couldn't sleep. It took me awhile to figure out why. I think Jay is in trouble. I saw these scars on her back. There was so many and Dad..." "Yes, Joe?" asked Fenton noticing the pain in his son's voice. "All I could think about was Rashman... what he did to me...my scars. It just came back to me in a rush," Joe said quietly and then he fell silent lost in his memories. Fenton knew that it would take a long time for Joe's mental scars to heal, but he had hoped that one day that all of it would just be a faded memory. He thought of how they had found Joe chained to fence and the pain Joe had to suffer at that maniac's hands. He felt anger toward that man, if you could call him that. He wished he could do more to help his young son. Frank was thinking about how much easier everything would have been if he had just killed Rashman when they had a chance. He could see that it was going to take a long time for Joe to finally come to terms with what had happened. All he could do was just be there to listen to whatever Joe wanted to tell him. "How do you think she got them?" asked Frank. "The way she acted around me. I say she got them the hard way. She was tortured," said Joe. "Joe, what do you want us to do?" asked Fenton. "I want to help her, I guess. She needs someone to save her, like you and Frank saved me," said Joe. "Alright," said Frank. "Let's help her." "Since we are going to do that, I think you two need some sleep. I want you to know that I love you and I am very proud of both of you. Now, lets go back to bed." "Thanks, Dad," said Joe standing up and giving his Dad a hug. "Anytime," said Fenton. "Go to bed.@ Frank stood up with the help of his crutches. Joe turned and looked at him. "Thanks, big brother," said Joe. "Always," said Frank. "How about helping me back to bed?" "Sure," said Joe. "Goodnight, Dad.@ "Goodnight, boys," said Fenton, with that he went back to bed. After Joe helped Frank back to his bed, then he went back to his own bed. Vanessa felt his presence and snuggled close to him. Joe felt better after talking with his Dad and Frank. As he let all of the tension drain from his body, he finally fell asleep.
