Plot Blurb: When Frank and Joe travel to Moscow on an assignment from their father, it brings up a few things Frank would rather not have to think about, dredging up painful memories of his childhood in Moscow . When Frank is kidnapped in Moscow , Joe will stop at nothing to get his brother back. In the midst of it all, Frank finds out that it’s not where you were born that decides where your home is, it is where your heart resides.

Splash Page:  A hand came to rest on his back and Frank smiled. As he started to turn to hug his brother, a voice whispered in his ear and he froze.

“Miss me, Semyon?”

Stefan.

“No,” Frank answered. “I have a new brother now, and he’s better at it than you.”

Stefan pushed his brother down, his right hand pinning Frank’s head to the ground and his left twisting Frank’s arm up behind his back. “Then where is he? Why isn’t he coming to the rescue?”

Frank gasped as his shoulder started to pop, unable to answer.

Stefan relaxed his grip ever so slightly and pulled Frank to his feet, pushing him in front as they walked. “Some brother, Semyon. He can’t save you.”

Special Notes: There’s a special place in my heart for all things Russian, with stories about Russian orphans in particular. I thought this would be an interesting angle to explore, with Frank as the adopted brother for a change!

Author’s Note: One must give credit where credit is due. If it hadn’t been for Mellon’s “Sweet William”, this story never would have made it out of my head. She provided the right scenes that I needed to make this story work. Her wonderful crafting of “Evil Willy” definitely inspired and challenged this author. There are similarities between the stories, but I hope there aren’t too many of them. Mellon is also the one who created the wonderful “paper” remarks that so deftly explain a minority opinion of some adoptions.
