Plot Blurb: Callie, Frank, Vanessa & Joe get more than they bargained for when they decide to spend a relaxing weekend camping together.
Splash Page: Frank held his brother’s girlfriend closely to him and sought for the words that were going to comfort her at this terrible time. They had no idea where Callie and Joe were, they had no way of contacting anyone, and their captor was threatening him with execution. Not a lot of comfort in any of that!
‘Joe will get us out of this,’ Frank found himself saying without even realizing he was saying it.
‘How can you be sure?’ said Vanessa, sniffing.
‘I just know,’ Frank told her, real conviction in his voice. ‘It’s a brother thing. He has a plan and he’s nearly ready to make his move. It’s going to be okay.’
Special Notes: I always wanted to include Callie Shaw in a story, but I never really liked the way she was portrayed in the Casefiles books. Red’s ‘20-something Callie’, however, has a wonderful personality. For me, something needed to happen to younger Callie to help her make that transformation.
